LAMAC, the Barangay name is derived from the word “Lamakan”which translates to “Swamp” which was mostly present around the community even before 1925. These swamps were abundantwith various species of plants and animals, especially Tangkong. Barangay Lamac was and is still known for producing Tangkong crops for markets across Metro Cebu. The abundance of Tangkong has helped a lot of families as well as the community to thrive successfully- providing families a commodity, helping students to finish education. Contingents joined the street dancing that started at the Lamac barangay court, passing Purok 3 to Purok 2, all the way to the stage area in SM City Consolacion.
