 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞.



Mandaue City Sports Commission Officer, Mary Joy Tabal-Jimenez, led the announcement of the Mandaue City Grassroots Sports Development Program during a press conference held at the Mandaue Sports Complex VIP Lounge on July 29, 2024.

This initiative aims to provide children aged 12 and below with opportunities to learn, develop, and excel in various sports, fostering a holistic approach to nurturing young athletes.

The program is open to all children 12years old and below who are residents of Mandaue City, and is willing to undergo training.

Weekly training sessions, structured by Tabal-Jimenez and the program's coaches, will begin following the launch event on August 3 and 4 at the Mandaue Sports Complex.



The program will run until December 2024, covering sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Running, Chess, Sepak Takraw, Table Tennis, Badminton, and Karatedo.

The culmination event in December will feature performances, awards, and the selection of top athletes, with the chance for outstanding participants to join Mandaue City's Sports Scholarship Program.

The Grassroots Sports Development team will then asses the growth and performance of the athletes to see if they are eligible to advance to a higher level of training or perhaps open another batch of new athletes.

We look forward to seeing Mandaue City build a solid foundation for sports excellence in the city.
