In line with its efforts to advance connectivity, Globe has launched Connectivity Champions, recognizing individuals and groups instrumental in advocating for universal and meaningful access.
In its inaugural year, Globe selected three individuals known for their contributions to driving positive change by bridging the digital divide and fostering a more connected society. The 2024 winners were evaluated based on their impact on internet access, innovation in digital inclusion, sustainability and scalability of initiatives, and community influence.
"Through Connectivity Champions, we hope to amplify the efforts of those who have gone above and beyond in their roles to push for reliable and equitable access to connectivity in the country. Their work reflects Globe’s goal of ensuring that connectivity becomes a right, not a privilege," said Michelle Ora, Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships and Programs at Globe.

The Connectivity Visionary Award is given to real estate developers who advocate for connectivity as a basic service, build internet-ready infrastructure, and support policy reforms.
Delfin Angelo C. Wenceslao, President and CEO of D.M. Wenceslao and Associates,
Inc., was recognized for championing fiber-ready properties for In-Building Solutions
(IBS) facilities and estate underground infrastructure for immediate connectivity and
resiliency.
Wenceslao’s commitment is exemplified by his leadership at Aseana City, a master-planned community focused on seamless connectivity, enhanced living, and economic growth.
"We are building a connected city. And building one involves creating an ecosystem that prioritizes seamless communication, digital access, and modern infrastructure," he said. “Connectivity is a non-negotiable requirement for tenants and customers. A strong telco partner like Globe helps us deliver on this expectation by providing robust and scalable solutions.”

The Connectivity Trailblazer Award highlights individuals who drive the expansion of connectivity. Guillermo "Bill" Luz, Chairman of Liveable Cities Philippines, was acknowledged for advancing technology integration in urban development.
As co-chairman of the National Competitiveness Council (2011-2018), he facilitated partnerships between government agencies and the private sector to support connectivity initiatives.
Luz said for a city to be competitive, every building must come with built-in connectivity.
“Connectivity should be treated like electricity and water— it must be part of the standard utility package. Whether for homes or commercial developments, connectivity should come pre-installed with the building. Ideally, it should be ready to activate upon turnover, allowing immediate use of the service" he said. Connectivity is no longer optional, it's a necessity," he said.
Luz spearheaded the Liveable Cities Program, which promotes intelligent city development through tech-driven service delivery, improved government services, and citizen welfare.
His efforts also extend to strengthening connectivity in disaster-prone areas to ensure effective communication during emergencies, establishing his role as a key advocate for connected and disaster-ready communities.
The Digital Transformation Award is presented to government officials who champion policy reforms and initiatives for greater connectivity and digital inclusion.
Ernesto V. Perez, Director General of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), was commended for advancing policies such as the removal of excessive charges on telcos by local government units (LGUs) and homeowners' associations, which eased the deployment of telco infrastructure.
Perez partnered with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) to digitize telecom permits, expediting approvals and enhancing connectivity. He also supports shared telecom towers to expand coverage and lower costs.
"Connectivity is the backbone of the modern economy,” he said. “By investing in connectivity today, we can prepare for a future where technology is seamlessly integrated into every aspect of our lives. However, it is crucial to ensure that this digital transformation is equitable and inclusive.”
He also noted the importance of public-private collaboration.
"By working together, we can accelerate the deployment of high-speed internet, reduce costs, and expand coverage to underserved areas,” he said.
The Connectivity Champions initiative supports Globe's Zero Lease effort, which removes cost barriers for developers and property owners to host IBS and essential telecom infrastructure. This approach allows telco services to be more affordable and readily available for all.
