In meaningful observance of Earth Hour last March 28, 2026, SM J Mall delivered a thoughtfully curated, maxed-out lineup of activities that brought together the community for a day of inspiring, educational, and creative environmental engagements, each underscoring the importance of sustainability and collective action.
The afternoon opened with “Young Voices of the Planet: Biodiversity Conservation Talk,” featuring young environmental advocate Samantha Gail Lim. At just nine years old, Lim captivated attendees with her passion for protecting the Cebu Flowerpecker and her ongoing efforts to raise awareness on biodiversity conservation. Her talk offered a compelling reminder that environmental stewardship transcends age and encouraged participants to play an active role in safeguarding the planet for future generations.
Attendees also took part in the “Nature & Wildlife Glow-in-the-Dark Painting Workshop,” led by artist and environmental scientist Queen Wei of the Center for Conservation Innovations Philippines. The immersive session invited participants to interpret Philippine biodiversity through art by painting animals, plants, and ecosystems in vivid, luminescent detail. More than a creative exercise, the workshop illustrated how art can serve as a powerful medium for environmental awareness and advocacy.
Through these Earth Hour activations, SM J Mall reaffirmed its commitment to fostering sustainability and empowering communities to take meaningful steps toward environmental conservation.
