𝐒𝐌 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐛𝐮 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥
SM Supermalls in Cebu stepped up their disaster preparedness efforts as its four malls took part in a nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill today, September 10, bringing together mallgoers, tenants, employees, and emergency response teams in a coordinated exercise.
The drill was conducted at SM City Cebu, SM Seaside City Cebu, SM City Consolacion, and SM J Mall, with participants guided through established earthquake response and evacuation procedures. At SM City Cebu, the earthquake drill was conducted alongside a fire drill, allowing mall personnel and the mall community to practice response procedures for two emergency scenarios.
Led by the SM Emergency Response Team (SMERT), the exercises were designed to reinforce awareness of proper emergency procedures and test the readiness of mall personnel to respond in a coordinated manner. Participants were guided toward designated evacuation areas and reminded of established safety protocols throughout the simulation.
The activity was carried out with the support and guidance of local disaster risk reduction and emergency response agencies, strengthening coordination between SM and its government and emergency response partners.
The activity is part of SM Supermalls’ continuing efforts to build a culture of preparedness and resilience across its properties. Through regular drills and close coordination with local authorities and emergency responders, SM continues to help ensure that its malls are ready to respond when emergencies arise and remain safe spaces for the communities they serve.
